Green USA Compost
About Us
Our first passion is compost. We are one of the few composting operations in the nation that dedicates itself to research and furthering the science of composting. We have 2 patent pending processes to help in this effort.
Our second passion is waste diversion. Landfills are becoming more of an issue every year in relation to the polluting of our groundwater. The EPA estimates that there are over 50,000 landfills (closed and open) in the Unites States. Each of these landfills generate an average of 6 million gallons of contaminated groundwater each and every year. That is a total of 300 billion gallons of contaminated groundwater every year. Rain falls on the top of the landfill and drains through it, picking up thousands of pollutants along the way. Once that water drains out of the bottom of the landfill it is on its way to becoming part of our groundwater supply.

Every pound of waste that we divert from a landfill contributes toward cleaning up our groundwater. You can help by signing up your business with Green USA Compost today. You can bring your organic waste to our facility or we can come and collect it from you on a regular basis. Either way we can work together toward in the effort to create cleaner drinking water for the generations yet to come.
Items We Can Compost
- Paper - Composting your paper waste is more secure than shredding. Shreds can always be re-assembled. After your paper waste is composted, no one will ever be able to read it again.
- Wood - Trees, limbs, or lumber. You don't even need to remove the nails, staples, or screws. Once it is shredded our separators will remove all metal.
- Cardboard
-
Raw Food - Vegetables, dairy, meat, doesn't matter. We can compost all your raw food waste.
- Cooked or Processed Food - It may be left over from processing, packaged food expired on the shelf, or cooked food in your restaurant or deli that has gone to waste. We can compost it all.
- Yard Waste - Plants, soil, grass clippings, trees, limbs, or anything else organic that may have come out of your yard.
- Mortalities- It may be road kill, farm animals, or the remains from rendering, packing plants, or butcher shops. No matter the source you need a good place to dispose of this waste to control disease.
- Compostable Plastics
-
FOG (Fats, Oils, Grease) - This does not include petroleum based oils.
- Gypsum Drywall - As long as the drywall is gypsum encased in paper we can compost it, even if it is moldy.
Why Use Compost?
Compost is a wonderful addition to any fertility program. Conventional fertilizers help the plants by providing a short-lived burst of fertility, but do nothing to improve the quality of the soil.
Compost improves the tilth, water and fertility holding capacity, organic content, and aeration of the soil. Conventional fertilizers leach through the soil very quickly. This can result in high nitrate levels in the groundwater of land long exposed to chemical fertilizers. Compost helps to slow, if not stop this process by improving the nutrient holding capacity of the soil. Compost will also provide nutrients to the plants over a longer period of time than conventional fertilizers due to the slower nutrient release rate.
The use of conventional fertilizers, over a long period of time will deplete soils. Crop rotation is used to help alleviate the problem but is not a permanent solution. Often farmers will have to add more fertilizer, over time, to achieve the same yield results due to soil depletion. An added issue to depletion is soil erosion. Millions of tons of topsoil are lost every year to erosion. Adding compost to your fertility regimen can slow or stop both of these contributing factors to soil depletion. Compost will make your conventional fertilizers more effective by improving the quality of your soil. Compost also helps to reverse soil erosion because you are adding volume to your topsoil.
If compost is not a part of your fertility regimen call us today. We can help you improve your soil, the effectiveness of your fertilizer, and your yields.
